Fire Blankets
When you have a small fire, especially in an enclosed space such as a kitchen or boat, a fire blanket may be your most efficient solution. This is ideal for Class F fires such as when oils or fats are involved.
The blanket works by cutting off the fire's oxygen supply. It sometimes will solve your fire extinguishing needs, and at others will serve as a smothering or restraining strategy until methods that are more effective can be employed. Especially valuable is their usefulness in wrapping around a person whose clothes are on fire.
Store these in or close to the kitchen, but not immediately above or too close to potential fire sources. You want to be able to reach the blanket if there is a fire!
They are designed to cope with extreme temperatures, are compact, portable and are easy to store.
They should be used once and then replaced.
